Stock is the equipment that has been produced by the manufacturer upfront, but not paid off by client. There are a lot of reasons for that: the order was cancelled, the client got insolvent, the order was changed, etc.
Stock is also the equipment accumulated within a certain time as a result of economies of scale, where the manufacturers in executing large orders produce more items, the same quality items, but with a less cost price. As those products are stock items, they are usually sold with a discount to another customers.
